St Peter's Choirs / Music pages
St Peters has a rich music tradition, which is supported by professional musicians, lead by our Head of Music Ministry.
There are many opportunities for amateurs to join in leading our worship, geared towards all the different forms of worship we provide. These include:
- Shekinah for children from age 6 to 11
- Girls' Choir for ages 11 to 18 - which sings to Cathedral Standards
- Sanctuary Band
- Music Group
- Red Choir - SATB mixed voice adult choir, also singing to Cathedral standards
Head of Music Ministry
Andrew Burr (Mus B. FRCO(Chm) GRSM, ARMCM, PGCE)
My musical life began as a chorister at Southwell Minster in Nottinghamshire, continuing at the RMCM and Manchester University.
I taught in schools in Tameside and Derbyshire before becoming freelance and now work in several schools in Cheshire. I was accompanist to the Kinder Children’s Choirs for 14 years.
I have accompanied services in many cathedrals and have made recordings and broadcasts for the BBC and ITV. I also like to play jazz.
St Peter’s is a beautiful place to work in. We have two excellent choirs and a very enthusiastic Music Group and Worship band.
The Head of Music Ministry faces many challenges, but, I have a lot of support from some wonderful colleagues, and am keen to maintain the excellent standard of music in worship we have at St. Peter’s.

How to get involved
The best way to get involved is to come along to one of the services where the music you are interested in is used, and talk to one of the musicians involved - they will explain how to join in: we aim to be inclusive in all our music! Or email email@example.com
Look at the music list to see when you can come and join in!
