A joyful sound to the Lord
“When you sing well, you pray twice”, so said St Augustine. In which case we would probably please him, for we have many fine opportunities to make music in worship, as well as simply singing in the congregation.
The Vicar explained changes in September 2018.
All our choirs and groups welcome new members. It’s a great way to make new friends in church, to focus on something that really takes you out of normal day-to-day concerns, and it’s a wonderful way to worship God.

The Choir visits one of our cathedrals each summer and sing the daily services while the cathedral choirs are on holiday. This is an immense privilege as well as an unforgettable experience.
The classic mix of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, we sing a wide range of traditional and modern Anglican choral music for Holy Communion, Evensong, Matins, special services and other events. It’s a welcoming and open to all adults and young people aged 11+. For adults, choir practice is always followed by gathering in the pub!
Making more contemporary music, this group currently comprises a combination of keyboard, guitars, flute, clarinet, violin and voices – but we enjoy the challenge of adding different instruments.
The unmistakeable sound that draws us into church, our bell ringing team tolls joyfully at the start of our mid-morning worship, special services and for many weddings. They also have a set of handbells, which particularly come into their own for Prestbury Street Parties.
