Parish Choir Holiday 2011

The choirs of St Peter’s have arranged annual singing holidays at most of the major cathedrals in Great Britain for more than 50 years. This year was no exception with the Parish Choir singing at Durham Cathedral from 25th to 31st July, while the cathedral’s own choir was taking its summer break.

The choir stayed in at Durham University’s St Aidan’s College which is located on a hillside across the River Wear from the cathedral.

From Monday to Saturday there was a morning music rehearsal at the college and then free time until rehearsal in the cathedral just before Evensong. Sunday is always very busy and we sang two morning services, returned to St Aidan’s College for Lunch and then back to the cathedral for Evensong.

Those present agreed that this years Choir Holiday was excellent and we thank Andrew and Mike for their expert musical leadership.
