Church weekend away: 19-21 October 2012

Our church weekend away is a celebration of all the good things happening at St Peter’s.

Escape with us for Exodus 2012!

Our weekend away last year was so enjoyable – ask anyone! – that we couldn’t wait to escape back to the Pioneer Centre.

Our theme in 2012 is the Exodus, and we’re planning
lots for everyone, whether you’d like an adventurous challenge or would prefer a relaxing break in the countryside. By popular demand the Big Bounce will be back, the prayer and art rooms will be bigger and better, and the weekend wouldn’t be complete without coffee in St Peter’s Starbucks.

We’re really excited that we’ve managed to book comedy magician John Archer to entertain us on Saturday evening, and the Vicar is already planning his Sunday challenge. Choose what you’d like to do, relax, and spend time with old and new friends.

We’ve booked the whole centre this time, but places are still limited so please book early to avoid missing out!

 Pioneer Center

About the Pioneer Centre

The Pioneer Centre has plenty of experience in providing Christian holidays for all ages. The Canadian- themed accommodation is surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Adventure activities, lounges and dining rooms are serviced by staff keen to help in any way, to ensure a relaxing and rewarding stay.

Catering and accommodation

Accommodation is in clean, comfortable lodges. Bedrooms have from 2–6 beds and all are en-suite. Choose the room size which suits you, and if you have teenagers maybe let them share with their friends?

The weekend is fully catered from Friday evening to Sunday lunch. Special diets are not a problem, just let us know! There are facilities for heating your own baby food.

Activities

You can dip in and out of four activity streams planned to suit every person. Adventurous types will be challenged by climbing, zip wire and high ropes – just a selection from the centre’s Activity Blitz. Older children might want to try the indoor caving system – be warned – it’s dark in there!

If you prefer to relax in the countryside there will be plenty of walks and excursions to choose from. For people looking for a more spiritual weekend there will be a selection of reflective and creative things to do.

And of course there will be activities for the younger ones. Fuller details of all the activities will be available nearer the time.

John Archer

John Archer

You won’t want to miss hysterically funny magician John Archer, who is our star attraction for Saturday evening. John was awarded the Magic Circle Stage magician of the year in 2008, and regularly appears on TV – you may have seen him fooling magic legends Penn and Teller.

 Prayer stones

Catapult challenge

Barn dance

Walking party

 Cost of the weekend

We are suggesting a contribution of £110 per adult, £60 for 13–18s and £35 for 4–12s, towards the cost of accommodation and food, and £20 per adult towards the activity programme. If this will be a stretch for you please don’t worry: do speak to Patrick as we want all members of our church family to be able to participate.

If you can spare more, we can use this to help another
family come along, or enhance the activity programme which will make our weekend more memorable and fun!

The costs are per person and there are no supplements.
